About Pendennis Clinic

Chartered Physiotherapists undergo a medical training providing health professionals with an extremely broad knowledge of the body’s systems particularly to musculo-skeletal system, but also with regard to the respiratory( eg asthma, bronchitis, etc), neurological ( eg Stroke, Parkinsons, Multiple Sclerosis etc). Most physiotherapists spend some time gaining experience in the NHS to broaden their knowledge and experience. Some physiotherapists then choose to specialize in their area of interest.

The clinic currently has three Chartered Physiotherapists:

Penny White qualified in 1976 at the Middlesex Hospital, London ( now formed the University College London Hospitals). Penny continued to work in the NHS gaining experience in general physiotherapy in Surrey, then as a senior physiotherapist on the cardiac unit at the Bristol Royal Infirmary.

After a five year family break, Penny worked part-time at Southmead, then Frenchay hospital, and in a GP surgery, and then started moving into the private sector working at the Glen.

Penny then spent 9 years as a joint physiotherapist with Gloucestershire County Cricket Club gaining experience in the treatment of professional sportsmen. Penny has a particular interest in treating cricketers of any age or stage in their careers, and also tennis players and skiers as has personal experience in these.

Gabriella McCloskey qualified in Hungary in 1990, and worked for 9 years in neuro-rehabilitation, and 4 years in musculo-skeletal physiotherapy. Gabriella has worked in the clinic since 2006 along with her work at the Leonard Cheshire Home.

John Cooper qualified from the University of the West of England in 2003 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. He has since gained significant NHS and private practice experience specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

He is particularly interested in the assessment and treatment of spinal disorders. He is highly skilled in the internationally renowned Mckenzie method of mechanical diagnosis and therapy and is on their U.K. register of credentialed therapists.

He has also gained significant experience in the treatment of sports injuries through working as an academy physiotherapist at Bristol City FC and is currently the 1st team physiotherapist for Bristol Manor Farm FC.
